Bagus Priyo
Bagus Priyo Beruang (b. 1986, Malang) is an artist and graphic designer whose practice is distinguished by its candid observations of contemporary culture and everyday social phenomena. Through a visual language that appears deliberately simple, approachable, and unpretentious, he presents critiques and personal commentaries on issues that often emerge within public discourse and viral culture. His works are characterized by bright color palettes and straightforward drawing techniques, allowing complex ideas to be communicated with clarity, humor, and accessibility while retaining a subtle critical edge.
Active in the contemporary art scene since 2011, Bagus has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions. Notable presentations include a collaborative comic exhibition with Rakhmad Dwi S. at Crack Studio, Yogyakarta, in 2017, as well as his solo exhibition 10 Years Hi Mom!, which reflected on a decade of artistic practice through his distinctive visual storytelling. Through both his artistic and design work, Bagus continues to explore the intersection between popular culture, personal reflection, and social commentary.
