Ojite Budi Sutarno

Ojite Budi Sutarno (b. Malang, 1960) is an Indonesian contemporary artist whose practice is deeply rooted in the visual traditions and cultural narratives of the archipelago. A graduate of the Fine Arts Program at IKIP Malang in 1988, he is known for works that blend ethnic sensibilities with contemporary expression, often incorporating wayang figures, fictional entities, batik-inspired motifs, and symbolic imagery.

Working across diverse materials such as stainless steel, brass, aluminum, and acrylic paint, Ojite constructs richly layered compositions that bridge traditional iconography and modern artistic language. Active in the exhibition circuit since the early 2000s, he has participated in numerous notable exhibitions, including Festival Borobudur (2003), Multi Sub Culture in Berlin, Germany (2004), Bali Biennale (2005), Art Fair Visual Art Jakarta (2006), and Yogyakarta Biennale (2007), establishing a sustained presence within Indonesia’s contemporary art landscape.
