Yawara Oki Rahmawati

Yawara (b. 1994, Tulungagung, East Java) is an artist and graduate of the Fine Arts Department at Universitas Brawijaya who has maintained an active artistic practice since 2013. Currently based in Jakarta, she works primarily with textiles and reclaimed fabrics, combining embroidery and collage techniques to construct layered visual narratives. Her works frequently engage with social, environmental, familial, and childhood themes, transforming personal observations and everyday concerns into poetic reflections on the relationships between individuals, communities, and their surroundings.

Over the course of her career, Yawara has participated in numerous exhibitions across Indonesia, with her works presented in Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and Malang. Selected exhibitions include The Big Picture at Astha District 8, Jakarta, and Senang Bersamamu at Selasar Sunaryo Art Space, Bandung. In addition to various group exhibitions, she presented the solo exhibition Berpilin bagai Kelindan at ART:1 New Museum, Jakarta. Her artistic achievements have also been recognized through several awards, including First Best Artwork at Dedicated Aesthetic #3 (2018), Bronze Most Promising Artist at the UOB Painting of the Year Indonesia (2019), and Third Best Artwork at DERIK (2022).
